ANGEL HAIR PASTA WITH SHRIMP AND GARLIC

Ingredients:
1/4 lb angel hair pasta
2 TB butter
2 TB olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
10 med shrimp - cleaned
pinch salt
pinch pepper
1 1/2 TB parsley
1/8 cup Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
Cook spaghetti per package directions. Meanwhile, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic, cook until golden. Discard garlic. In garlic oil, add shrimp, salt, pepper, 1 TB parsley. Cook over medium heat until shrimp turn pink. Remove saucepan from heat. Toss with drained spaghetti, Parmesan and remaining parsley. Serve immediately with garlic cheese bread.Serves 2

Fresh Pumpkin Pie

A fresh pumpkin pie recipe with spices.

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1 3/4 cups fresh cooked, pureed pumpkin
• 1/4 cup light corn syrup
• 2 eggs, lightly beaten
• 2 tablespoons melted butter
• 1/2 cup evaporated milk
• 1/2 cup milk, scalded
• egg white
• 1 unbaked pie shell, 9-inch

Preparation:

Mix sugar, salt, and spices. Add pumpkin, then corn syrup, eggs, butter, evaporated milk, and the hot milk. Brush bottom of the pie crust with egg white. Pour pumpkin filling mixture into the shell and bake at 375° oven for 25 to 35 minutes. A knife should come out clean when inserted in center.

Ears before Eyes

RESONS FOR ADVANCING HEARING OVER SIGHT

Allah the Almighty says; “And pursue not that you have no knowledge of; surely the hearing, the sight, the heart- all of those shall be questioned of.” (17:36)

What are the possible reasons behind advancing "hearing" over "sight" in Quran ?

1- Hearing develops before sight in the embryo stage , and it is the first sense that functions in life. The function of hearing starts immediately with the baby after deliver, in contrary to the eye which does not function the time the baby is brought to life. In other words, Allah the Almighty conveys to us that it is hearing that functions at first. If a disturbing sound is produced near the newly born baby, he/ she feels terrified and cries. But if a hand is approached near the same baby, he/ she does not move or sense any sort of danger.

2- Ear is preferred over and more superior than the eye, as it does not stop function by sleep. Since the very beginning of life, the ear functions at the first instance after delivery, while some other organs may wait days, or years to function. The eye needs light to see. Rays of light are reflected on things, then enter the eye to see things. If it is dark, the eye cannot function, but the ear can function day and night.

3- Ear is the link between man and the world. When Allah the Almighty decreed that the Men of the Cave sleep hundred of years, He said; “Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave.” (18 : 11)

Hence when ear was out of function, men of the Cave were able to sleep hundred of years without any disturbance. Noisy daylight movements, contrary to night quietness, prevent man to sleep deeply. Yet the ears never sleep or lose attention.

A college physics professor was explaining a particularly complicated concept to his class when a pre-med student interrupted him.
"Why do we have to learn this stuff?" one young man blurted out.
"To save lives," the professor responded before continuing the lecture.
A few minutes later the student spoke up again. "So how does physics save lives?"
The professor stared at the student for a long time without saying a word. Finally the professor continued. "Physics saves lives," he said, "because it keeps the idiots out of medical school."
Idiots don't go to medical school right!

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah ra that he heard
Rasulullah saw as saying :
"The believers who show the most perfect faith are those who have the best character, and the best of you are those who are best to their wives". (Tirmidhi)
How true it is!

A "Mabrur" Haj

Anas Radiyallahu 'Anhu reports : ''Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam performed haj on an old pack saddle. On it was a piece of cloth, the value of which was less than four Dirhams. (It may be possible that by 'on it' Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallhu 'Alayhi Wasallam himself is meant here. i.e. He covered himself with an ordinary sheet. The value of which did not reach four Dirhams. This explanation is most accepted by the respected teachers. The eleventh hadith in this chapter strengthens this). Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was reciting this du'aa: 'Allah make this haj one that has no show or fame'''.
Commentary
This was recited to educate the ummah, or shows the complete humbleness and utmost devotion of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Although there can be no question of show and fame in any act of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, then too Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam made this d'uaa and beseeched Allah to keep this haj free from show and fame. The sheet that was on the mubaarak body or on the pack saddle of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was of such an ordinary quality that its value was less than a rupee (about twenty cents). This was the result of his complete humbleness, which was his usual habit. Although due to some considerations Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam at time's wore expensive clothing, but normally did not do so.
Humbleness is the key to a "mabrur" haj, isn't it?

Tips for Pizza Boy!

A college pizza delivery boy arrived at the house of Larry Johnson. He delivered the pizza to his trailer.
After giving it to him, Larry asked: "What is the usual tip?"
"Well," replied the youth, "this is my first trip here, but the other guys say if I get a quarter out of you, I'll be doing great."
"Is that so?" snorted Larry. "Well, just to show them how wrong they are, here's five dollars."
"Thanks," replied the youth, "I'll put this in my school fund."
"What are you studying in school?" asked Larry.
